Peel Development Commission support for Peel-Harvey Catchment Council
The Peel-Harvey Catchment Council received $30,000 towards their operating costs from the Peel Development Commission through the 2008-09 Royalties for Regions Fund.
“This support is invaluable and will assist us to remain operational through to December while we investigate other funding opportunities”, said Jan Star, PHCC Chairman.
“We remain committed to effective community involvement in natural resource management planning and delivery at the grass roots.
“We also plan to maintain our strong links with State and local government.
“As government can’t do everything, we have been effectively working to fill the gaps and will endeavour to continue this important role.”
Peel Development Commission’s Chief Executive Maree De Lacey said the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council is one of the region’s peak bodies and their work in protecting the Peel’s uniquely beautiful environment should not be underestimated.
“The Commission values the work done by PHCC and is pleased to be able to support them in this way. We will continue to work with the Council to assist them to find alternative funding”, she said.
